The Bethune College Council (BCC) is the student government for Norman Bethune College. We represent all students that are a part of the Faculty of Science, as well as students that live in Bethune Residence. Our mandate is to dedicate ourselves to the Bethune community in the provision of social and academic programs and services while ensuring we maintain a strong and representative voice within York University. The BCC strives to enrich the lives of the Bethune student body through social and academic events. Additionally, the council will continue to guide and assist all affiliated clubs and organizations.
Throughout the school year we help plan and put on a variety of events including Dragon Week, trips, skiing, coffee houses, sporting events, and much more. We also offer all these events for very discounted rates to make them affordable for all students. No matter who you are there is something for you at Bethune College.
You can find us in our office in 122 Norman Bethune College, located in the first floor, across from the Junior Common Room.
We look forward to working with you and meeting you this coming school year.
The JACS Lounge is located in the basement of Norman Bethune College, across from the elevators. This is a place where students are able to come in between classes and have some fun. We have a new pool table which is available throughout the day for people to use. We also have a 52 inch LCD TV, 72 inch projector screen TV with digital satellite as well as a PS4 and Xbox, with games like FIFA, and 2K17. The room also backs out to the Bethune Patio where you can sit outside either on the benches by the gardens or at a picnic table and eat, study or relax. During the school year, JACS will offer movie nights and sports nights, pool and foosball tournaments, karaoke and much more in addition to its regular services. Whether you want to play games or just sit and watch some TV, the JACS Lounge is a great place to just kick back and relax.
The Junior Common Room is located in the basement of Norman Bethune College and connects with the Bethune College Council offices. This is the quieter brother of the JACS Lounge where people can come and read or study. With ample couches and chairs for seating and tables, you can come here with your friends to eat lunch, go over homework together, or just catch a few winks of sleep between classes. Along with the JACS Lounge, the JCR also has a projector screen that can be hooked up to anyone laptop to play movies, watch TV or even to put up PowerPoints to review with your friends. There is also an audio jack that you can use to play music, just be sure not to play it too loud! Whatever reason you want to come the JCR is a place for anyone to come and just be yourself.
